Rifabutin is an antibiotic. It prevents bacteria from multiplying in your body. Rifabutin is used to prevent mycobacterium avium complex (MAC) in people with HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) infection. Rifabutin is also used with other medications to treat tuberculosis in people with HIV.
